The International Child Resource Institute in some respects is mirroring what I love to do, and that is to help my families and children.  I am of cause working on a small fraction of the scale Mr. Jaffe  is working on, but I have the same passion for the few families that I am connected to as he appears to have with the thousands of children and families he is helping.  Looking at his work and listening to his goals, objectives, and most of all the joy he receives for being able to help turn lives around in a positive direction, gives me the drive to keep moving forward with my mission.
The idea of trying to reach older children really started my creative juices flowing.  We cannot just leave them alone with the incomplete developmental process that has now hindered their future.  Mr. Jaffe is not throwing any child away; he is reaching the children at all levels and trying to help them begin to help themselves.
Mr. Jaffe said that his organization does not enter a country or village without the invitation of the national or local government.  Politicians can play a positive or negative role in the support of the early childhood field.  Politicians are supposed to be the voice of the people therefore if the politician is doing the job for his people he will speak in behalf of their concerns.
Quality early childhood development cannot be taken for granted.   All over the world children are suffering because of the lack of concern for their well being where early childhood development is concerned.  There is so much more than play and creative expression in EC.  In addition we should be concerning ourselves with; proper nutrition, clean water, appropriate clothing, and appropriate parenting from before birth to five year old and beyond.

INTERNATIONAL CHILD RESOURCE INSTITUTE

INTERNATIONAL CHILD RESOURCE INSTITUTE
www.icrichild.org
FOUNDED IN 1981
Conducted 150 Programs in 51 Countries
The International Child Resource Institute has tried to establish or improve the lives of children and their families around the world.  The International Child Resource Institute
looks at the whole child’s; nutrition, cognitive, physical, emotional, and economic development.  This organization’s focus is making life better for children and families regardless of their income, economic or social conditions. In an attempt to further the quality of life for the families and children, the International Child Resource Institute issues loans to these areas to assist in the opening of businesses to improve the economic conditions.

What impressed me about this organization was their work with sexually abused women from the ages of 12 to twenty five. Some the women are living with HIV.  Most of all I was impressed with the fact that this organization only enters a country by invitation from either the government of the country or grass root organization of the country.  Their   purpose is to improve the lives of children and families.

It is with great pleasure I introduce to you my Walden University colleagues to,
President & Executive Director
International Child
Resource Institute
Mr. Ken Jaffe

My very pleasant telephone visit with Mr. Jaffe was overwhelming, and I learned so much in the 45 minutes he so generously shared with me.  Most of the information he shared with me is on his website, however he delivered it with the passion of an individual who is in love with helping others, he was so inspiring, I wanted to just hug him!
This organization has no religious affiliation, its main focus is on the worldwide rights of children, health issues, and the rights of young women and girls who have been abused.
He also created the San Francisco Bay Project, a project that created a neutral zone for unarmed gang members to meet to settle their differences.  Mr. Jaffe spoke about the community based needs assessment, and how they never enter a country, village, or town without an invitation from the government or the grass root leaders, they only hire local nationals.  The organization also shows different examples of successful models which allow the local people to assess the model that is best for them.
"We never say “we know” because we work with people who need help and “they know”.  We merely assist them with achieving their needs."

I work in an impoverished community, I am in the midst of localized poverty, looking at it through very narrow lenses.  I now see the impact that poverty has on the entire world.  There is much work to be done.
